主要研究植物抗病虫防御的机制。揭示了植物激素茉莉酸及其互作控制植物防御草地贪夜蛾、甜菜夜蛾、棉铃虫、线虫、灰霉菌、或假单胞菌等农业害虫或病原菌的机制,调节雄蕊发育与育性等生理反应的机理。
