1993年和2009年在北京师范大学获得理学硕士和博士学位。2009年7-8月在美国洛杉矶自然历史博物馆合作研究， 2011年1-11月美国国家自然历史博物馆访问学者，现主要从事脊椎动物学教学和鸟类学研究工作。多次获得校级优秀主讲教师称号，主持国家自然科学基金面上项目及省部委科研项目10余项，发表论文30余篇,其中Auk， Journal of Ornithology， Condor， Plos One， Journal of vertebrate Paleontology等国际知名刊物10余篇。
