报告摘要:Systematic characterization of ?ybrid incompatibility (HI) between related species remains the key to understanding speciation. The genetic basis of HI has been intensively studied in Drosophila species and some plant species, but remains largely unknown in other species, including nematodes. This is mainly due to the lack of a sister species with which C. elegans, a nematode model organism, can mate and produce viable progeny. The recent discovery of a C. briggsae sister species, C. nigoni, has opened up the possibility for dissecting the genetic and molecular bases of HI between nematode species. In this talk, I will discuss our recent work on empowering the sister-species pair as a novel model for speciation genetics as well as the novel insights derived from study of the model using a combination of genetics, genomic and systems biology approaches.
